Verizon Leak Reveals Motorola Droid Bionic Price?
We've been learning more and more about Motorola's Droid Bionic on Verizon LTE, most recently getting a better look at its hardware specs and software features. Even as that picture gets filled-in, we're still left wondering about the phone's cost and retail launch date. Some new rumors hope to nail those down, but do they fit with what we've already heard?
A leaked screenshot, supposedly from Verizon's retail computers, shows the new Bionic in the store's inventory, displaying a price of $587. Obviously, that's off-contract, and it's definitely in-line with what current Motorola devices of similar hardware specs are going for; the Photon 4G is about $550 off-contract. This doesn't give us any indication of what you might expect to pay for the Bionic with a service agreement, but if we know Verizon, the fact that the phone uses LTE means it will be a little above the curve.
Accompanying this information is the rumor that the Bionic would go up for sale on August 26. Near the end of last month, Motorola was saying that the Bionic would be available in September, making this date sound a little early. It is very near when we were expecting the phone, however (September 1 being another rumored release date), so it's conceivable that there was an opportunity to get the Bionic out a little early, and Verizon and Motorola jumped on it to avoid some of the stiff smartphone competition due later this year.
